Among the activities of SEPROSUL 2026, participants will be able to get a close look at the port, shipbuilding and innovation hub of Rio Grande (RS), one of the most important in southern Brazil.
Planned tours
Visits are planned to the Rio Grande Port Complex, the Tecon Rio Grande/Wilson Sons container terminal, the Rio Grande/Ecovix Shipyard, Oceantec, the EMBRAPII iTec Unit, the Naval Manoeuvre Simulation Centre and Augen Engenharia.
The visits connect the scientific programme with industrial practice, bringing researchers and students closer to real operations in logistics, shipbuilding and energy. Registration for the tours will take place during the event, subject to availability.

The city of Rio Grande (RS) will host the 24th edition of SEPROSUL, the South American Conference on Industrial, Production and Mechanical Engineering, from 16 to 18 September 2026. It is hosted by the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) and the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), with the institutional support of the Montevideo Group Association of Universities (AUGM).
Theme of the edition
Under the theme “The New Frontier of Productivity: Artificial Intelligence and Human Work for the Development of South America”, the 2026 edition brings together researchers, professors, students and professionals to discuss the convergence of AI and human work, Industry 4.0/5.0, the blue economy, sustainability and regional development.
An itinerant AUGM event
Created in 1991, SEPROSUL is an annual, itinerant conference that strengthens South American scientific integration. Recent editions were held in Argentina (2025), Montevideo (2024) and Santa Maria/RS (2023, UFSM).
